Vyapar vs MyBillBook: Honest Comparison for Retail Shops

If you run a shop in India and have started looking at billing apps, two names keep coming up: Vyapar and myBillBook. Friends recommend one, a YouTube video recommends the other, and both websites promise GST billing in seconds. This Vyapar vs MyBillBook guide puts them side by side using only what each company publicly says about its product, so you can see where they overlap, where they differ, and which questions to ask before you pay for either one.

We make Caddayn Biller, so we are not a neutral party. That is exactly why this comparison sticks to features both vendors list on their own websites (checked in October 2026), avoids ratings and prices, and ends with a section on when neither a billing app nor the other will be enough for your shop.

Vyapar vs MyBillBook at a glance

Both products are aimed at the same customer: a small or medium Indian business that needs GST-ready bills, basic stock tracking and an easy way to chase payments. Both say they serve retailers, wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers. The differences are mostly in emphasis.

  • Vyapar leans on offline billing, multi-device use and day-to-day counter speed. Its website highlights billing that keeps working when the internet is down, role-based logins for staff, automatic backups to Google Drive, support for more than nine Indian languages and integrations with thermal printers, weighing scales and card machines.
  • myBillBook (made by FloBiz) leans on collections, marketing and bookkeeping. Its website highlights WhatsApp and SMS payment reminders with UPI links, shared ledgers, an online catalogue, loyalty points, campaign tools and AI-assisted bank reconciliation, along with GSTR report generation and Tally export.

Neither of these is a criticism. They simply tell you where each team has put its effort, and which kind of shop owner each one is talking to.

Feature comparison table (from public information)

The table below lists what each vendor’s own homepage describes. “Listed” means the feature appears on the vendor’s site; “Not highlighted” means we did not see it on the homepage, not that the product lacks it. Always confirm in a live demo, because both apps change often and some features may sit in specific plans.

Which one fits which kind of shop?

Reading the two websites side by side, a fair way to think about it is this.

Vyapar may suit you if…

  • Your internet connection is unreliable and you cannot afford a stopped billing queue.
  • Your staff bill on their own logins and you want to restrict what each person can see or change.
  • You sell loose items by weight and want a weighing scale linked to billing.
  • You raise e-invoices or e-way bills from the same app you bill in.
  • Your team is more comfortable in a regional language than in English.

myBillBook may suit you if…

  • Your biggest headache is collecting credit dues, and you want reminders with UPI links going out automatically.
  • You track batches and expiry dates, for example in a small medical, FMCG or cosmetics shop.
  • You want to send offers to customers on WhatsApp and run a simple loyalty programme.
  • Your accountant works in Tally and you want a clean export at month end.

In practice, many shops could run on either. Small details decide it: how fast the bill screen feels on your actual counter PC, how the printout looks on your printer, and whether support answers when you call on a busy Saturday evening.

How to test Vyapar vs MyBillBook in your own shop

A feature list never tells you how software behaves at 7 pm on a festival day. Before you decide, run the same small test on both apps. Most of this can be done in one afternoon.

  1. Load 30 real items. Pick items with different GST rates, a few loose items sold by weight, and a few with batch or expiry details. Note how long the import or manual entry takes.
  2. Bill five real-looking carts. Include a discount, a return, a split payment (part cash, part UPI) and a customer on credit. Time each bill from first scan to printout.
  3. Print on your own printer. Check that the GSTIN, HSN codes, tax breakup and your shop details print clearly on your thermal roll or A4 sheet. Our guide to GST invoice software for shops lists what a compliant bill must carry.
  4. Pull the day-end reports. Look at the sales summary, tax summary and stock report. Ask yourself whether your accountant could file from them without retyping.
  5. Switch off the internet. Try to bill. Then reconnect and check that nothing is duplicated or missing.
  6. Add a second user. Give a staff member a login and see what they can and cannot do, such as deleting a bill or changing a price.
  7. Call support once. Ask a real question and note how long it takes to get a useful answer, and in which language.
  8. Export your data. Make sure you can take your items, customers and bills out in a usable format. You will need this if you ever move, as explained in our guide on how to migrate billing software without breaking your shop.

Write the results in a simple two-column sheet. The app that wins on your own carts and your own printer is the right one, whatever any ranking says.

Where both billing apps can start to feel small

Vyapar and myBillBook are built first for small businesses, and for a single counter that is often all you need. But some shops outgrow the “billing app” model. Warning signs we commonly hear from retailers include:

  • More than one branch or godown. You need stock transfers between locations, branch-wise reports and central price control, not just separate logins.
  • Several counters at the same time. Supermarkets and busy hypermarts need fast barcode billing on multiple POS terminals with stock updated live across all of them.
  • Industry-specific workflows. A restaurant needs KOTs, tables and split bills. A pharmacy needs batch and expiry at the billing screen. A textile shop needs size and colour variants. Generic apps often handle these only partly.
  • Purchase, stock and accounts in one place. When purchases, supplier dues, stock valuation and GST all have to reconcile, a retail ERP saves the month-end scramble.

If two or more of these sound like your shop, read our guide on how to choose retail ERP software and the overview of retail ERP software in India before you commit to a plan.

If you have already decided that one of these two is not right for you, our earlier articles look at each one separately: Vyapar alternatives for retail shops and myBillBook alternatives for retail.

Where Caddayn Biller fits in

Caddayn Biller is a retail billing and ERP system built for shops that are moving beyond a single counter. It covers barcode and GST billing, inventory with low-stock and reorder alerts, multi-branch operations, units of measure, price lists, customer loyalty and UPI, card and cash payments. It runs as a Windows app and a web app, and there are vertical editions for supermarkets, textiles, hardware, restaurants (KOT, tables, split bills, QR ordering), pharmacies (batch and expiry) and more. You can see them all on the Caddayn products page.

If your test of Vyapar vs MyBillBook leaves you feeling that both are a little too light for how your shop actually runs, download Caddayn Biller and run the same eight-step test on it. Compare all three on your own items and your own printer, and choose the one that keeps your counter moving.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vyapar or myBillBook better for a small retail shop?

Neither is better for everyone. Based on their websites, Vyapar puts more emphasis on offline billing, hardware integration and regional languages, while myBillBook puts more emphasis on payment collection, batch and expiry tracking and WhatsApp marketing. Test both with your own items and printer before deciding.

Do both apps support GST billing?

Yes. Both vendors describe GST-ready invoices with tax calculation, and both mention GST reports. Check that the printed bill carries every field your business needs and that the reports match what your accountant files. The GST portal is the official reference for filing.

Can I use Vyapar or myBillBook on both mobile and computer?

Both say they sync across devices. Vyapar describes mobile and desktop billing with cloud sync, and myBillBook lists PC, web, Android and iOS. Confirm how many users and devices your chosen plan allows.

Can I move my data from one app to the other later?

Usually yes, but plan it. Export items, customers, suppliers and opening balances to Excel first, then clean and import them. Avoid switching in the middle of a GST return period.

When should I look beyond a billing app?

When you add branches or godowns, run several billing counters at once, or need industry-specific features like restaurant KOTs or pharmacy batch control. At that point a retail ERP such as Caddayn Biller is usually the better fit.
